“Siam Commercial Bank” & “Samitivej Hospital Group” Redefine Digital Health Experiences with “The FIRST Lounge & SCB Investment Center” developing Digital Solutions for Wealth Customers
Bangkok (26 June 2018) – “Siam Commercial Bank” has actively pursued wealth customers. In its latest move, it has partnered with “Samitivej Hospital Group” in adding a new dimension to both bank and healthcare industries. Bringing services to the next level, the partnership covers three aspects and embraces “The FIRST Prestige Health & Wealth Experience” concept. Firstly, “THE FIRST LOUNGE & SCB INVESTMENT CENTER” now operates inside a glass house at a Samitivej hospital, incorporated with SCB Investment Center whereby customers can seek knowledge and advice on wealth management. This lounge targets FIRST-class customers of the Samitivej Hospital as well as SCB Wealth customers, who are either “SCB PRIVATE BANKING” or “SCB FIRST” members. Secondly, “Samitivej FastPay” presents itself as a fast payment solution. With it, there is no need for hospital’s service users to wait in line to settle their medical bills. This solution also helps reinforce Siam Commercial Bank’s positioning as the digital-banking leader. Thirdly, “Samitivej Plus” springs into action as a comprehensive digital platform for online healthcare. Digital Ventures, a developer of financial innovations, a subsidiary of Siam Commercial Bank, has created this application to deliver impressive User Experience and facilitate online payments. With Samitivej Plus, users get the taste of modern Digital Health and Exclusive VIP One-stop service. They can access services both inside and outside the hospital through the solution. As the partnership caters well to the health, lifestyle and financial needs of target groups, it is expected to establish Siam Commercial Bank as the No. 1 wealth-banking leader.
Mr. Arthid Nanthawithaya, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siam Commercial Bank, says that “the bank has placed a strong emphasis on the development of innovations, technologies and services, ever since it announced the Going Upside Down strategy in pursuit of the goal to become the Most Admired Bank. Siam Commercial Bank is now transforming itself into Bank as a platform that not only upgrades financial-service experiences but also comprehensively responds to customers’ needs.
“From now on, we will focus on redefining our customer experiences via digital platforms. We are going to deliver digital experiences to our target groups and create greater opportunities for Customer Engagement. This strategy also applies to our Wealth Management, which is a core part of Siam Commercial Bank. We have lately partnered with Samitivej Hospital Group, the medical-service provider with vision, determination and a clear emphasis on medical and service innovations that can better the health of people. Samitivej’s approach resonates with our intention to develop digital platforms in collaboration with business partners and to create an eco-system suitable for digitally-driven health & wealth experiences. The partnership between Samitivej and Siam Commercial Bank will redefine experiences in Thailand’s healthcare and financial sectors,” he adds.
“Our collaboration with Samitivej aims at reaching out to new customers and taking care of our existing wealth customers, who are our VIPs, via innovative products and services that are going to serve new lifestyle and financial experiences. Our partnership with Samitivej, moreover, underlines Siam Commercial Bank’s vision to not function just as a bank. We have now set our sight on being an organization that leverages new technology to empower our business partners, enhance our capabilities, seek new opportunities, and pursue the best service standards for our customers. Our ultimate goal is to become a digital platform that is driven by information technology, within 2020. Through our collaboration with Samitivej, we trust that we are well set to become No. 1 wealth-banking leader,” Mr. Arthid explains.
Chairat Panthuraamphorn, M.D., CEO of Samitivej and BNH hospitals, says, “As we are celebrating the 39th anniversary of the group, we are guided by the concept “Once that matters”. We designed all products and services to help people stay healthy, since we know that an illness not only affects patients, but also their families, friends and work, and in the end the national economy. Thai public healthcare spending exceeds 400 billion baht per year, not including private medical spending, and the trend is growing. With this in mind, we are committed to developing innovations and services to minimize people’s health risks. Samitivej has cooperated with a number of leading hospitals in Thailand and other countries in offering medical innovations and technologies that enable people to discover their specific health risks and then prepare them well. For example, genetic analysis by advanced precision medicine can predict a person’s possible health problems. In cooperation with Sano Hospital of Japan, Samitivej introduces the latest technology that can discover or predict the possibility of colon and gastric cancer. By continually striving to improve medical treatment and health risk prevention for child patients, Samitivej also has a partnership with Oregon Health & Science University (USA) and with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon, which has been named the best children’s hospital in the United States. In addition, Samitivej offers “Divine”, an innovative health program custom-tailored to the individual patient. Divine uses precision medicine technology for “Personal Health MappingTM” in order to develop individual healthcare programs. Divine programs includes telomere genetic age test and analysis to identify cell age and potential diseases and health problems, enabling Samitivej to help prevent health risks. Samitivej also offers “Total Health Solution” for preventive diagnosis, which assists medical specialists in drawing appropriate preventive measures for anyone of any age.
“In terms of customer services, Samitivej has cooperated with Digital Ventures in developing applications that suit new generation lifestyle. “Samitivej Plus” connects Samitivej’s information services together. The application enables patients to check the waiting queue while receiving information in real time where to go next for what service. The application will guide patients through every step, from the very first moment of arriving at the hospital. Patients can also request a doctor’s appointment online, view their medical history and make fast and easy payments. Customer experience is another area of focus. The new “First Lounge and SCB Investment Center”, a premium lounge in a garden, provides an impressive one-stop-service at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital. Patients are served healthy drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. At Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, a huge panorama displays beautiful pictures of tranquil nature, ensuring a relaxing and calming environment. Throughout the past 39 years and for many years to come, Samitivej remains committed to being a friendly hospital for all, with medical excellence and impressive services that best address modern lifestyle,” he adds.
“Recognizing the need to deliver new healthcare experiences for Thailand 4.0 Era, we have worked with Digital Ventures of Siam Commercial Bank in developing solutions to answer comprehensively to customers’ needs. “Samitivej FastPay” is the payment solution that is real fast and convenient, while “Samitivej Plus” functions as a personal healthcare assistant from pre-hospital to post-hospital period. At present, these apps have already been introduced to the Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, the Samitivej Srinakharin Hospital, and Samitivej Children’s Hospital. We have also planned to introduce them to four other Samitivej hospitals before yearend so as to deliver impressive experiences to all our service users,” he explains.
Mr. Orapong Thien-Ngern, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Ventures Company Limited, says, “As digital technologies have brought changes to the world, they have also created new business opportunities. Thanks to digital innovations, it is possible to upgrade quality and service for better user experiences. We are well aware that it is important to leverage technologies and innovations for boosting the potential of businesses particularly those in the health industry. So, we have partnered with Samitivej hospitals in developing Samitivej FastPay. This is a new payment solution that allows service users to settle their medical bill at a faster speed and at greater convenience because of 1) QR Code Payment at FastPay Station, which is linked to Samitivej hospitals’ billing system. When service users come to the station, they will see their outstanding amount and be able to settle the payment with just one scan and 2) Credit-card payment via Samitivej Plus application. Both methods have already been used at Samitivej Sukhumvit and Samitivej Srinakarin hospitals during the past month. They have processed more than 1,157 transactions over the period or about 50 transactions a day. On satisfaction, their users have rated them highly – giving them 4.75 out of the possible 5 points. Samitivej FastPay users get 10-per-cent discount from the hospitals. As a special promotion, app users who settle payments with Siam Commercial Bank’s credit card will also enjoy additional discount”.
The collaboration between Siam Commercial Bank and Samitivej Hospital Group has redefined digital health experiences in three main aspects:
