SCB, Let’s Do Good: “Taking Kids to the National Science and Technology Fair”

To give children living in remote areas an opportunity to expand their learning beyond the classroom and promote a volunteerism culture among employees, Siam Commercial Bank has annually conducted SCB, Let’s Do Good: “Going to Tourist Destinations with Kids” activities since 2011. This year, a team of 30 SCB executives and volunteer staff from the Chiang Mai Area Office led 85 schoolchildren at the 1st-3rd year secondary school level and teachers from Somdej Ya Learning Community Demonstration School under the College of Bodhivijjalaya, Srinakharinvirot University, Mae Chaem, Chiang Mai Province, on a study tour of the “National Science and Technology Fair, Regional 2018,”  held at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Center (CMECC).

The children visited commemoration exhibitions of their majesties and an astronomy exhibit, and participated in various scientific activities, such as Turning Garbage into Treasure Troves, A New Era for Agriculture, and Nature Inspiration. They also toured the Chiang Mai Night Safari for close-up learning about wild animals. The children also joined an “Earth Loving Bottle” activity held to encourage them to reduce the use and disposal of plastic bottles, with SCB volunteer staff acting as guides for the 2-day study tour program. The activities are designed to inspire the children to study science and technology, reap environment and nature conservation life experiences, and develop their scientific skills to ensure they are ready to learn how to cope with a changing society  in the 21st century.
