SCBX Group through SCB raises awareness of environmental conservation on World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the SCBX Group, through Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), organized an environmental awareness activity in the Royal Property area of Bang Kachao, Tambon Bang Kobua, Phra Pradaeng, Samut Prakan. As part of its ongoing commitment, SCB has collaborated with the Bang Kobua community to preserve and develop the area as an arboretum within the unique three-water area: freshwater, saltwater, and brackish water.

At the event, SCB First Senior Vice President and Head of CSR, Mr. Saksit Pitipongsoonthorn, led 60 volunteers from the SCBX Group in joining the following activities:

  1. Planting 500 indigenous trees to foster a thriving ecosystem and conserve native plant species, including oriental mangrove, many-headed marlberry, mahogany, ironwood, yellow mangrove, and Fijian longan.
  2. Making compost from dry leaves to enrich soil fertility, improve topsoil structure, and enhance water and air circulation, supporting healthier plant growth.
  3. Exploring local wisdom by tie-dyeing fabrics with natural colors derived from Palmyra palm fruits and Indian almond leaves, showcasing the beauty of sustainable craftsmanship.

SCB has actively supported and participated in the OUR Khung BangKachao project since 2019 in collaboration with the Chaipattana Foundation and 38 government and private organizations. This initiative continues the royal vision of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to develop Khung Bang Kachao into a thriving green space where environmental sustainability and community coexistence are prioritized through the synergy of different organizations. SCB contributes to the project by joining three working groups: (1) The Green Area Development Group, (2) The Waste Management Group, and (3) The Youth Development, Education, and Culture Group.

The World Environment Day event aligns with the green area development efforts, reinforcing Khung BangKachao’s role as the “green lung” of Bangkok and ensuring long-term environmental benefits for both local residents and city dwellers.
