Transfer of Rights under the Hire Purchase Agreement

1. Qualifications of the Transferor (Current Lessee) and Transferee

The transferor (Current Lessee) must meet the following criteria:

  1. Has paid at least 6 installments.
  2. Has an outstanding hire purchase balance of 100,000 baht or more.
  3. Has no overdue installments, late payment charges, collection fees, or any other payable expenses under the hire purchase agreement (if applicable).
  4. Is not under any debt suspension program.
  5. Has not entered into a step-up debt restructuring agreement (i.e., an agreement where installment amounts vary over time, such as:
    • Installments 1–12: 5,000 baht per installment
    • Installments 13 onwards: 10,000 baht per installment)
  6. Must present the vehicle under the current hire purchase agreement for the transfer process.

Transferee

  1. Must be at least 20 years old and not older than 60 years.
  2. Must have a good credit history.
    2.1 For individuals:
    • Must be a permanent employee with at least 6 months of employment history, or
    • If self-employed or without regular employment, must provide documents verifying income sources as required by the bank.
    2.2 For juristic persons:
    • Must be registered as a business for at least 1 year.
    • Must have submitted the latest financial statements.
    • Must have at least one Thai director or an authorized representative to act as a guarantor.

2. Supporting Documents

Transferor (Current Lessee)

Individual (Thai Nationality)

  1. Three copies of national ID card
  2. Three copies of house registration
  3. Current hire purchase agreement
  4. Copy of vehicle registration book (blue book)
  5. Original car insurance policy:
    • Must have at least 6 months of remaining coverage from the date of the rights transfer
    • Insurance coverage must equal or exceed the outstanding hire-purchase debt

Individual (Foreigner)

  1. Original passport and three copies (valid for at least 3 months from submission date)
  2. Original work permit and three copies (valid for at least 3 months from submission date)
  3. Copy of the current hire purchase agreement
  4. Copy of vehicle registration book
  5. Original car insurance policy:
    • At least 6 months of coverage from the date of rights transfer
    • Insurance coverage must equal or exceed the remaining hire-purchase debt

Juristic Person

  1. Three copies of the company certificate with objectives (issued within 1 month of submission date)
  2. Three copies of the national ID card of each authorized director or representative
  3. Three copies of the house registration of each authorized director or representative
  4. Company seal (for stamping documents with bank officers)
  5. Copy of vehicle registration book
  6. Original car insurance policy:
    • Coverage of at least 6 months from the date of rights transfer
    • Insurance coverage must equal or exceed the remaining hire-purchase debt

Transferee

Individual (Thai Nationality)

  1. Three copies of the transferee’s national ID card and two copies of the guarantor’s ID card
  2. Three copies of the transferee’s house registration and two copies of the guarantor’s house registration
  3. Latest payslips for the past 6 months or income certificate (issued within 1 month)
  4. If income is received in cash: a withholding tax certificate (Form 50 bis) for the past 6 months
  5. If self-employed or with irregular income: documents verifying source of income, e.g., employment contract, business lease agreement, etc.
  6. Savings or current account statement for the past 6 months
  7. Map showing the current workplace and residence of the transferee

Individual (Foreigner)

  1. Original passport and three copies
  2. Work permit and three copies (valid for at least 3 months from submission date)
    • If the work permit does not specify a residence, a Residence Certificate issued by the Immigration Bureau or embassy (issued within 1 month) must be provided.
  3. Latest payslips for the past 6 months or income certificate (issued within 1 month)
  4. If income is received in cash: a withholding tax certificate (Form 50 bis) for the past 6 months
  5. If self-employed or with irregular income: relevant documents (e.g., employment contracts, lease agreements)
  6. Bank statements (savings/current) for the past 6 months
  7. Two copies of the guarantor’s national ID card
  8. Two copies of the guarantor’s house registration
  9. Guarantor’s income documents (same as items 3–5)
  10. Map showing the current workplace and residence of the transferee

Juristic Person

  1. Three copies of the company certificate with objectives (issued within 1 month)
  2. Three copies of commercial registration (Form Por. Por. 20 or Por. Por. 09), signed and stamped by the authorized director
  3. Three copies of corporate tax documents (Form Por. Por. 30) with payment receipts for the past 6 months
  4. Copy of shareholder list (Form Bor. Or. Jor. 5) (not older than 1 month)
  5. Three copies of the national ID card of each authorized director or representative
  6. Three copies of the house registration of each authorized director or representative
  7. Company seal (for stamping with bank officers)
  8. Bank statements (savings/current) of the juristic person and all authorized directors for the past 6 months
  9. If any authorized representative is a foreigner:
    • Original passport and three copies
    • Original work permit and three copies (valid for at least 3 months from submission date)
  10. Map of current business location
  11. Two copies of the guarantor’s national ID card
  12. Two copies of the guarantor’s house registration
  13. Guarantor’s bank statement (savings/current) for the past 6 months

3. Fees and Expenses

3.1 Individual customers who signed a hire-purchase agreement before July 1, 2018, as well as foreigners and juristic persons

4. Advance Hire-Purchase Installments

Subject to the conditions set by the bank.

5. Insurance Premium (if any)

To be paid in accordance with the terms and conditions of the hire-purchase agreement.

6. Procedure

  1. Contact the SCB Call Center at 02-777-7777 to request an appointment for the transfer of rights under the hire-purchase agreement.Note: If SCB Connect has been added, use the message: “Request an appointment to change an agreement for a transfer right via SCB Connect or SCB Call Center 02-777-7777.”
  2. A bank officer will contact the transferor, transferee, and guarantor (if any) to arrange the signing of the transfer request form and the transfer agreement.
  3. On the appointment date, the transferor, transferee, and guarantor (if any) must present all required documents along with the vehicle under the current hire-purchase agreement.
    • Complete and sign the transfer application form and transfer agreement. All parties must also sign to certify copies of all submitted documents.
    • Pay any fees and expenses required prior to loan consideration.
  4. The bank will review the documents and notify the result within 7 business days from the date all required documents are received.
  5. A bank officer will inform the transferee of the approval result, applicable fees, advance hire-purchase installment amount, and insurance premium (if any).
  6. The transferee must pay all applicable fees and expenses and submit proof of payment to the bank officer.
  7. The bank will deliver a copy of the vehicle registration and transfer agreement to the transferee within 14 business days from the date the vehicle registration book is received from the Department of Land Transport.
Notes: 
  • All document copies must be certified as true copies by the document holder. The transferor must sign in the same manner as on the current hire-purchase agreement. If any document contains sensitive personal data (e.g., religion, ethnicity, blood type) under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), such information must be crossed out and the individual must sign beside each redacted area.
  • Loan approval is subject to the bank’s terms and conditions.
