International Banking Function is pleased to announce that SCB Ho Chi Minh City branch commenced operations on 21st March 2016. The branch will provide full range of banking services including Lending, Deposits, International Trade, Remittances and Foreign Exchange.
SCB’s Ho Chi Minh City branch is just the second full branch presence in Vietnam by a Thai bank. The branch targets to support trade and investment between Vietnam and the countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion and also with China and Japan.
The Bank license has a tenor of 99 years. The branch is located at Kumho Asiana Plaza, Unit 605-609, Level 6, 39 Le Duan Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Ms. Saranya Skontanarak has been appointed as the General Director of the branch.
In Greater Mekong Subregion countries, SCB presently has a 100% owned subsidiary in Cambodia, namely Cambodia Commercial Bank, and a branch in Laos. It has also a representative office in Yangon, Myanmar, which it hopes to upgrade to a branch when the relevant regulations there allow doing so.
The establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City branch reinforces SCB’s strong network in CLMV countries and enables the bank to provide better support to corporate clients who plan to expand their investments and trades in the Mekong Region.
The official opening ceremony of the branch will be held in May.
