The Treasury Department opened the Government Complex on Chaengwattana Road as a flood relief center, and it is now home to more than 2,600 people. In a bid to alleviate hardship suffered by flood victims, Siam Commercial Bank has provided 750 sleeping sets, 250 pillows, 900 blankets, and 500 towels to provide comfort to flood victims.
The Bank has also provided 3,500 "SCB Lunch Boxes" a day to the relief center since October 20. The center has extended their assistance by serving as a center for smaller relief centers in the Chaengwattana area, such as the Laksi District Office, schools in the area, CAT Telecom PCL, and others, and has increased the number of lunch boxes to 4,500 a day at present in order to meet demand.
As part of its continuous efforts supporting flood victims, Siam Commercial Bank has set up food booths with professional cooks to prepare freshly cooked meals. Menu items include roasted red pork noodles, Hainanese chicken rice, roasted red pork rice, pork noodles, chicken noodles, fish maw soup, chicken soup rice, and other delicious meals. In addition, the Bank is also collaborating with the Crown Property Bureau Foundation to provide desserts, such as bread in red Hale's Blue Boy syrup, Thai custard with sticky rice, Tab Tim Krob (water chestnuts in syrup with cold coconut milk), grass jelly in syrup, Thai steamed banana or pumpkin cakes, and other desserts. SCB food booths are very popular due to the freshness of the cooked food and menu variety. SCB food booths will operate every Saturday and Sunday until the closure of the relief center.
