SCB exprees heartfelt sympathy to all customers

November 15, 2011

Dear Customers,

As you are all aware, the unprecedented volume of flood waters, after causing much havoc in the central plains, is now making its way to the sea through and around our capital city and in this process inflicting further damage and distress.

All of us at the Bank are deeply concerned by the impact the floods are having on our customers, their businesses or employers and, at a broader level, a large cross-section of our communities. To those of you have suffered loss or damage from these floods or experienced severe hardship, on behalf of the Bank and its employees, I would like to express our heartfelt sympathy. The only real solace we can offer is that, sooner rather than later, this disruption will be behind us and we will recover.

I take this opportunity to assure you all that although we too have been affected by these floods at a number of locations, we are committed to continue to provide financial services, as normal, to all customers, except at branches and ATM’s inundated by flood waters. Maintaining this service level has been possible because of our well developed and tested business continuity arrangements and the remarkable adaptability of our employees.

Further, the Bank will continue to extend financial and non-financial support to our customers, our employees and others in the community who have been affected by this unexpected crisis and thus help mitigate some of the hardship that has arisen.

As with past crisis that the Thai people have faced, I am sure that our strong community spirit and uncommon resilience will help us to collectively overcome current challenges and, in due course, rapidly recover.

Yours sincerely,

Kannikar Chalitaporn
President
