Siam Commercial Bank Confirms its Readiness to Cope With the Approaching Floodwaters

Bangkok, November 2, 2011: The huge volume of floodwaters which have had a widespread impact on various provinces to the north of Bangkok is now menacing Bangkok. Specifically, portions of several major roads in, among others, the north of the capital, such as Vibhavadee Road, Pahonyothin Road, as well as parts of Don Muang,  Laksi,  and Lad Prao districts are flooded.  These roads and districts are relatively close to the Bank’s Head Office on Ratchadapisek Road.

The Bank recognizes the risk this situation poses, primarily that of access to its Head Office. The Bank stresses, however, that its Head Office has not been flooded and nor does it expect that to happen given the elevated position and solid defensive perimeter walls of its Head Office Complex.

Nevertheless, the Bank has prepared itself to cope with the situation as it evolves to higher-levels of seriousness, with a view to ensuring the smooth continuity in the provision of financial services to all its customers. This preparation is part of the Bank’s comprehensive and well tested business continuity plans which covers multiple aspects including:  staff, core operations, systems, the two main IT Data Centres, and its multi-location Call Centre. A number of these facilities are located in various locations, some of which are not threatned, to minimize risks and to enable efficent business continuity.

The Bank, as one of the country’s prime financial institutions, is committed to maintaining its services to all customers despite the challenges faced in this difficult environment .  In this effort all its management and staff remain dedicated.  If any inconvenience whatsoever has been faced by its customers, the Bank expresses its regret and will make every effort to maintain the same quality of service for which it has been widely recognized before the floods.
